Welcome to "Popular Techno Genres Explained from a Drummer’s Perspective"! In this video I try to demystify the world of Techno music and its sub-genres. For years, my love for electronic music has run deep, but the enigmatic realm of Techno always left me intrigued and occasionally baffled. What do terms like "acid techno," "minimal techno," or "dub techno" really mean? We'll begin by tracing Techno's roots in Detroit and then journey through its evolution into diverse sub-genres such as Acid Techno, Minimal Techno, Melodic Techno, Dub Techno, Industrial Techno, Dark Techno, and Hard Techno. This won't be your typical production-style tutorial. As a drummer, I've embraced a different approach, learning to play the various beats and rhythms organically on my beloved Nord Drum 3P. I've also occasionally ventured into the realm of sound with the Vermona Perfourmer Mk2 and even explored the stock synth Drift in Ableton Live.
