An Iranian man claimed trial in the KL Sessions Court today, to a charge of planting 8 cannabis plants in a condominium, last month. 33-year-old Sharif Kazem Ahmad was charged with planting eight green plants with green leaves, with the height of 17.5 to to 127.5 centimetres, suspected to be cannabis plants. The businessman, was alleged to have committed the offence at a unit in Villa Laman Tasik Condominium, Jalan Sri Permaisuri, on April 27 this year. The charge, under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 carries a life imprisonment and with a whipping of not less than six strokes, if found guilty. Sharif Kazem, also pleaded not guilty to the charge of overstaying in Malaysia, after the expiry of his social visit pass on April 27. Judge Hasbi Hassan set June 8 for mention, while waiting for the chemist's report.
