Illuminate 2026 transformed the streets of Gainsborough on Saturday into a vibrant spectacle of colour, creativity and community spirit. This year’s theme, ‘Through the Window’, inspired schools, artists and community groups to explore imagination, perspective and storytelling through beautifully crafted lanterns and performances. The result was a magical parade weaving through the town’s streets before culminating in a lively celebration in the Market Place, where large crowds gathered to enjoy the festivities. The Fire Garden returned to the grounds of All Saints’ Parish Church, captivating audiences with glowing installations and dramatic displays. Gainsborough Old Hall once again became a highlight of the evening, drawing crowds who admired the stunning animated projection There Be Monsters by Electric Egg, which illuminated its historic walls. Visitors also enjoyed toasting marshmallows by the outdoor fire pit, adding to the evening’s warm and welcoming atmosphere.
