Several years ago, the forerunner to Animal Education Outreach, the Irish Animal Education Trust, posted a video of Tom Regan's appearance on the Late Late Show in four parts. For the first time ever - and with improved audio - Regan's fantastic account of rights-based animal rights philosophy, pitted against some pitiful questions and points made by the presenter Pat Kenny and the audience, is presented as one piece of video. Kenny's opening account of Regan's position is bizarre and inaccurate,* and some of his questions were just plain silly. Is it to his everlasting credit that Tom Regan dealt with these questions, and some audience points that showed utter disregard for Regan and his rights-based position, with grace, calm, and kindness. Regan's position is not that other animals have the "same rights" as humans do (no animal rights theorist has ever suggested that), and Regan does not say that humans are "racists" as a result of their speciesist attitudes.
