Visible Faith, Methodist Art Collection - UCLan

The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) recently hosted what is claimed to be the biggest and most valuable collection of modern Christian art outside of the Vatican as part of the Preston Guild exhibition. The Visible Faith exhibition at UCLan's St Peter's Art Centre contained some 50 paintings from the Methodist Collection of Modern Christian Art. The collection of religious artwork began in the 1960's, though some of the paintings date back to the early 1900's, and include pieces from well-known international artists such as Graham Sutherland and Edward Burra. The exhibition ran from 23 June -- 18 July at St Peter's Art Centre, Fylde Road, Preston, before being displayed as part of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad.
