Camacho, M.D., is the Surgical Director of Cardiac Transplantation and Assist Devices at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, and has performed over 650 heart transplants. A winner of the prestigious American Heart Association Distinguished Service award, Dr. Camacho is actively involved in teaching and mentoring future surgeons and members of surgery teams. She has served as President of the Society of Women in Thoracic Surgery and the New Jersey chapter of the American Medical Women’s Association, and has lectured to students around the world about methods in cardiac surgery and cardiac assist devices.
