Join Becca as she talks about ThomasNet and whether or not it's worth it! | Hi, my name is Rebecca Stickler, and I'm a content marketing specialist here at WebFX. Today, I'm going to be talking to you about ThomasNet. If you're looking to increase your company's exposure online, you're probably familiar with business directory sites, and if you're a manufacturing site, you're probably familiar with ThomasNet. ThomasNet was one of the first directories for manufacturing suppliers, and they've been around since 2006. Buyers can browse the site for free and find companies that offer what they're looking for. Suppliers, on the other hand, have to pay to create listings. These listings provide the company's name, product information, and they can pay extra to be listed at the top of their category. If you're a manufacturing supplier, you may be considering paying to have your site featured on ThomasNet, so I'll go over what you can expect to pay as well as the results you might see and in the end, whether or not ThomasNet is worth it for your company. In terms of cost, ThomasNet doesn't have a set annual or monthly charge to post on their website. Instead, they charge an annual investment based on the amount of competition in each category. So if you're a balsa wood supplier, there is very little competition in this category and you could probably list your company for a very low annual charge. But if your company sells washers, there are over 200suppliers already competing for space in this category. This means that your annual investment could be tens of thousands of dollars and that's just for your base listing. If you want to earn a top spot in search results, you'll have to pay even more. Overall,k the average cost of a listing is about $7,000 to $10,000, but for more competitive industries, it can be about $25,000 to $50,000 per year. In terms of results, the success you'll see with ThomasNet also depends on your industry. If your company is in a category with not a lot of competition but attracts a lot of buyers, you could see positive results from the platform. If you're in a competitive industry and don't have the budget to pay for high rankings, it might not be worth your time. If you do decide to use the platform, you'll want to pay close attention to your analytics to determine whether or not it's paying off for your company. ThomasNet uses an analytics platform called Web Traxs to report the number of views, clicks, and leads that your site generates. These metrics aren't as detailed as Google analytics, and they do cost to use. That being said, if you do decide to use ThomasNet, these metrics will give you a basic idea of whether or not its producing results for your business. That being said, we don't' recommend ThomasNet for a replacement for digital marketing strategies. Instead, you can use it as a supplement to your SEO or PPC campaign. It's important to keep in mind that not all of your potential clients will look to Thomas Net when they're looking for suppliers, so you'll still want to show up in organic results.
