Uganda Musician Accused of Abandoning His Child

Nanyonga Mariam, a Ugandan woman, has publicly accused popular singer Sizza Man of impregnating her when she was just 15 years old during a Firebase Crew tour in 2005. She says the relationship began in Palisa after a performance with Bobi Wine’s crew. Though Sizza encouraged her to keep the baby, he allegedly abandoned her and offered no support. Nanyonga dropped out of school due to the pregnancy. She tried multiple times to contact Sizza and even visited the Firebase studios and Bobi Wine’s home, where she received temporary support. However, Sizza Man never acknowledged the child, only sending UGX 80,000 once for Christmas. Attempts to involve Sizza’s family were unsuccessful. His father allegedly rejected the child, gave them only UGX 3,000, and warned her never to return without Sizza himself. The boy, now a teenager, says all he wants is to be recognized by his father and introduced to his paternal relatives. Nanyonga says she doesn’t want money—just acknowledgment for her son.
