Welcome to this 51-minute session: Cold Wax and Oil Figure Painting | Art and Mindfulness. In this video, I take you through the process of creating a figurative oil painting using cold wax medium and oil paints. This piece is less about instruction and more about presence — exploring how art and mindfulness connect through mark making, gesture, and intuition. Throughout this long-format time lapse, you’ll see moments of deliberate brushwork, layered texture, and expressive strokes slowed down to real speed so you can reflect on the intentional process behind figurative art. My goal is to share painting as a mindfulness practice — part demonstration, part therapy, and part storytelling through oil and cold wax. Materials and Throughts: -Cold Wax was used in this demo as a tool to 'knock back' the oil and not so much for it's ability to create multiple layers. The ratio is 20% wax to 80% oil paint. -Synthetic filberts and flats brushes. -Princeton silicone brushes. -Various palette knives. -Oil paints (Various brands). -Colors: Viridian, Alizarin Crimson, Ivory Black, Raw Umber, Yellow Ochre, Cad Red Light, Cad Orange, Cad Yellow Medium, Cerulian Blue. -Primed Linen Board. -Old Reference Photo Used. 👉 Don’t forget: YouTube now has a Hype feature!
