Ahaz, King of Judah, ascended to the throne at the age of 20, succeeding his father, King Jotham. His reign lasted for a total of 16 years. Ahaz's rule was marked by profound wickedness, as he not only offered incense to false gods but also committed the abhorrent act of sacrificing his own children in fire. As a consequence of his evil deeds, the Lord allowed the king of Syria to triumph over Ahaz, deporting many of his people to Damascus. Despite this mercy, Judah faced further invasions by Edom and the Philistines. Desperate for assistance, Ahaz sought aid from the King of Assyria, offering precious treasures from the Temple and palace in exchange. Unfortunately for Ahaz, the arrival of Tiglath-Pileser, King of Assyria, only exacerbated his troubles. Amidst these challenges, Ahaz's spiritual decline worsened.
