When you get spiked while standing on the ground in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U & 3DS, you can perform a Grounded Spike Cancel instead of a normal tech. This allows you to cancel the tech animation and act much faster out of it. This is not really something you actively go for, but rather something you CAN do, to get out of a sticky situation. If you see that you are about to be punished by a spike move, instead of teching normaly you would go for a spike cancel!
