A classic, vintage training film from the 1980s, hosted by famed actor, producer, and director Sir John Houseman, who played the curmudgeonly Professor Charles Kingsfield in "The Paper Chase." Conceived and produced by the masterful training-film expert Frank Ball, it was based on Karl Albrecht's best-selling book, "Brain Power: Learn to Develop Your Thinking Skills." This little-known 11-minute treasure actually became the best-selling industrial training film in America for over five years. In a rare appearance for a Hollywood personality, Houseman lends his authoritative personality to the purpose of this charming meeting-opener, which was to challenge business people to use their minds more effectively in their upcoming meeting. Appearing in a set much like the one in "The Paper Chase," he speaks directly to the audience, using props and a chalkboard to illustrate three principles of perception. He leans into the camera and declares, "This room can vibrate with a unique energy: human minds at work — brain power!" Be sure to view the companion video, "The Making of Brain Power," in which Frank Ball tells the interesting back-story — how he persuaded a celebrity to appear in an "industrial" film, and how the film almost didn't get made.
