At EnforceTac 2026 we stopped by the Corvus Defensio booth to take a look at several new upgrades for the Steyr AUG platform. Corvus has long been known for producing some of the best AUG accessories on the market, and this year they are finally showing a product many AUG owners have been waiting for: a completely redesigned trigger system. Instead of trying to adapt existing AR-15 triggers to the AUG trigger pack, Corvus started from scratch and designed an entirely new system built specifically for the AUG. Previous attempts to use AR-style triggers ran into safety issues due to the way the AUG’s trigger linkage and trigger rod system work inside the bullpup stock. According to Corvus, the biggest challenge was maintaining proper drop safety while still improving the trigger feel. The result is a new two-stage trigger pack that replaces nearly every internal component of the factory system. The design uses a horizontal sliding mechanism similar to the original AUG trigger geometry but replaces the plastic internals with metal components and incorporates ball bearings to eliminate the inconsistent “plastic-on-plastic” feel of the factory trigger. The system is designed to produce a predictable pull with a clear wall, crisp break, and short reset while maintaining drop safety. Corvus expects to begin the first production run later this year, with an initial batch of approximately 300 units planned once serial production begins. We also took a look at Corvus’ AUG handguard system, which is already available. The free-float design protects the gas system, stays cool even during rapid fire, and still allows the quick-change AUG barrel system to function normally. The handguard includes M-LOK mounting slots, integrated sling attachment points, and a reinforced top rail that allows direct mounting of optics such as ACOGs while bringing piggyback optics closer to the bore.
