We drove down the A1, the A14 and then took the M11 to Stansted where we parked up the van and stayed in a hotel overnight... In Madeira we burst into an English high summer although like us it was their winter. We explored the Northern and Western areas via bus and ventured on an 8 mile walk along one of the Lavadas which brings water from the North to the South of the Island. Everybody was friendly helpful. We did not have time to tour the botanical gardens which are best seen in April and May. We left knowing that Summers still exist and will come to England again soo. We rescued the van from the long stay car park and made is safely home.
