But does the poor air quality really disappear when winter ends? And what’s behind the smog problem in the first place? It feels like we’ve just accepted this issue as normal. In winter, we talk a lot about smog, but once summer comes, the topic seems to fade away. "Almaty? Is it OK to live with smog?" takes a closer look at the reasons behind air pollution in Almaty. We spoke to experts, activists, and locals to find out how smog affects our health and daily lives, and most importantly, what we can do about it. Air is something we all share. You can’t completely escape polluted air, but how much it affects you depends on where you live. People in the upper parts of the city breathe cleaner air, while those in the lower parts face much worse conditions. This film is not just for Almaty residents, it’s for anyone, even outside the city, because poor air quality is an issue that affects many regions of the country. The goal of the film is to get people talking about air pollution and its impact, and to remind everyone that clean air is a basic right.
