Proximity-dependent biotinylation approaches coupled with mass spectrometry analysis offer new ways to study protein-protein interactions and subcellular proteomes in the context of the living cell. The presentation included the following topics: Description of the Proximity dependent biotinylation strategy. Main enzymes used: biotin ligases and ascorbate peroxidases. APEX - BioID comparison. Important consideration when designing a proximity biotinylation experiment. Some examples, including context dependent proximity biotinylation and iBioID. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Supported by the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology and organized by Germán Rosano (@GermanRosano) and Nico Blanco (@NicoEBlanco), the course focused on the latest advances in proteomic strategies, especially in the area of protein-protein interactions and proteome characterization. Lectures covered novel techniques in proteomics, and experimental sessions focused on sample preparation, mass spectrometer operation, and data analysis.
