Welcome to my lesson for 'Massive' the new collaboration between Cory Wong and the legend that is Joe Satriani. This is an epic funk/rock crossover and I've had a lot of fun transcribing it. I'm not a whammy bar expert but have tried my best to replicate what Joe is playing but don't hold it against me ;) UPDATE: having seen the latest 'On the one' video released this week by ‪@CoryWongMusic‬ where he looks in detail at the track and plays some of his isolated parts, I have made a small change to the tab in the link below. It is just that intro riff (and each time it comes back) sounds like he is playing double stops. So a small change vs the video but I'm sure you can figure it out :) In the original track they have their guitars tuned down a semi tone (Eb, Ab, Db, Gb, Bb, Eb) which gives it a nice heavy tone. To keep it simple though, my transcription is in normal tuning (E minor) and for my play through I raised the backing track up a half step back to E. if you want to play along with the original either tune your guitar down and follow the tab or raise the original track and follow the tab. I use the Anytune app for manipulating the key of the track but I’m sure there are many others out there that can do it too.
