Only on Fox 17: Abused dog rescued; owner behind bars

NASHVILLE, Tenn.--A dog was rescued out of West Nashville, after being tied up to a tree with a rope. The rope embedded itself into the dog's neck. It created deep lacerations in the dog's fur. Kenneth Mann says, This is one of the worst things you could ever see or witness. It was tied tight, and apparently they didn't loosen the rope up. It was total neglect you know. I don't know why they would leave the rope on like that, but that's how we found it. Metro Police and Animal Control responded to a home on the 6000 block of Pennsylvania Avenue on Friday afternoon. A neighbor reported the neglected dog. Animal control says they do not know how the long the lab retriever mix was tied up, but it could have been weeks. Neighbor Carolyn Brown said, I just think that if people are not going to take care of animals, then they shouldn't get them because the animals don't have nobody to stand up for them...unless people call in or people do say something.The dog is about 2-years-old and is under 24 hour vet care. The woman who owned the dog was arrested and charges are pending. Kenneth Mann said, We will follow the appropriate measures and we will seek justice to the highest standard for this.
