Mamata Cartoon Forward I This Jadavpur University Professor spent 11 years fighting for justice

Prof Ambikesh Mahapatra, who was arrested for forwarding a cartoon aimed at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, was acquitted 10 years after a criminal case was instituted against him. The Alipur Court discharged him of the charges. A case was registered against Prof Mahapatra in April 2012 at Purba Jadavpur police station in Kolkata after he forwarded the cartoon to some people through email, and was arrested. He was later granted bail by a court.
