I have always been fascinated by the district of Paco in Manila. It has an old cemetery turned into a beautiful park, an old train station whose clock stopped at 2 o'clock and an old plaza dedicated to its original Japanese settlers. So we took a jeepney to UN Avenue and started our exploration of the old Paco on foot. This old town founded by the Franciscan in 1580 has so many stories to tell. We discovered so many secrets as we walked the district's streets. We visited several old grand churches, ancestral houses, art deco buildings and yes, that old train station whose design was inspired by the New York Penn station. We also discovered that Paco is the furniture center of Manila, with dozens of shops along Pedro Gil selling very affordable furniture, both brand new and second-hand. We also got fascinated by the key duplicators of Paco who still copy keys manually. Have your keys duplicated there to support this dying craft. Paco is indeed one of Manila's hidden gems waiting to be explored.
