This is part of an interview Brian Eno did with Charles Amirkhanian on the radio station KPFA, focusing on his upcoming album "My Life in the Bush of Ghosts", an experimental collaboration album with David Byrne. During the interview, Brian plays three early versions of songs from the album (America Is Waiting, The Carrier, and Mea Culpa) The album released in 1981, but was actually mostly done in early 1980. This interview is from February 12th 1980, and Brian predicts it will be released a coupler of months later. Due to the large amount of samples involved in the album, it took a year to ensure all copyright/licensing issues had been taken care of. It was made between the Talking Heads albums Fear of Music (1979) and Remain in Light (1980), both produced by Eno. This interview includes references to the Fear of Music track "I Zimbra" whose lyrics interpolate a dada poem by Hugo Ball. Just prior to this segment of the interview, they played some music from other cultures which led into their conversation about My Life in the Bush of Ghosts Timestamps: 0:00 discusses sampling/interpolating 2:39 plays early version of America Is Waiting (instrumental, introducing it as "Garbage Disco") 4:58 discusses My Life In The Bush of Ghosts 5:40 plays early version of The Carrier (mainly one vocal sample with less instruments, no title yet) 6:25 plays early version of Mea Culpa (introduces it as a very early/unfinished piece despite it being very close to the final album version) 8:20 discusses the instruments used to make the album The photo is from another interview Brian Eno did with Charles Amirkhanian in 1988 - unfortunately no photos of them together in 1980
