How do you make shows that appeal to a broad audience? Sam Pang, Luke Tunnecliffe, Nicole Minchin and Adam Manovic know all about how to do that – and more. This episode we focus on shows that are ostensibly about sport – but appeal far more broadly than just to sports fans. The panel will draw on their career experiences and skills to share insights into how they make this happen. Sam Pang will talk about 'The Front Bar' on 7Mate and many other aspects of his varied career, which includes 'Eurovision', 'Santo, Sam and Ed's Cup Fever' and 'Have You Been Paying Attention'. Luke Tunnecliffe is Head of Content for Australia’s most prolific sport production companies, JamTV. He was one of the creatives of the extraordinary 'Making Their Mark' documentary series for Prime Amazon, which went behind the scenes of the AFL in one of its most stressful years ever: 2020. Nicole Minchin will share insights of moving between comedy series like 'Lowdown' and sports docos, including her latest work, 'The Record', commissioned by Prime Amazon to reveal the story of how Australian women cricketers smashed crowd attendance records while winning the T20 World Cup, also in 2020. Adam Manovic is Head of Entertainment, Events and Creative, NITV and he’s talking about the importance of sport to NITV and how shows like 'Over the Black Dot' and 'Yokayi Footy' were created to meet that need.
