Traditional singer Aileen Lambert has a lovely song to share with you about a Robin. In the song the Robin explains what’s happening to the badger, frog and fox and how their habitats are under threat because of human activity. Newly composed by Michael Fortune, sung to the air of ‘Beidh Aonach Amárach’ it has a lovely chorus and is very popular with children of all ages. For ease of learning Aileen breaks the song down line by line and follows it with a sing-through complete with subtitles, so the whole family can sing along. Aileen is accompanied here by her daughter Nellie (age 10). Aileen delivers traditional song workshops in schools with the Heritage-in-Schools Scheme and Music Generation to all ages from Junior Infants to 6th class. She is currently working along with her husband Michael Fortune on the 'Songs for Our Children' Project, with support from Local Authorities, Galway 2020 and the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance. This Online Workshop was presented as part of Cruinniú na nÓg Kilkenny 2020. Cruinniú na nÓg is an initiative of the Creative Ireland Programme at the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht and is presented in partnership with RTÉ and the Local Authorities.
