Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) is a vital tool for evaluating the critical hypotensive patient. It can help to focus the differential diagnosis and guide resuscitation. Critical care ultrasound requires ability to evaluate the Heart (pump), lungs, abdomen (tank) and vasculature (pipes). The ability to implement POCUS in critical patients is a skill that every emergency physician or critical care physician must have. In this brief video we will review a case of cardiogenic shock in a patient seen in the emergency room and specifically the cardiac ultrasound in the case. A basic cardiac ultrasound will usually be enough to determine that cariogenic shock is present but in this case we will also see how the cardiac output is measured.
