This lecture is the fourth in our series, Quarks to Quasars, and is given by Debarati Chatterjee, an astrophysicist at IUCAA, Pune. She has made remarkable contributions to numerous fields ranging from particle physics to relativity and is currently working on numerical modeling in neutron stars. Neutron stars are effectively laboratories in space that allow us to investigate properties of dense matter under extreme conditions, far from the realm of terrestrial nuclear experiments. While multi-wavelength astronomical observations provide us a wealth of data about neutron stars, gravitational waves are allowing us for the first time to probe their interior composition directly, enabling us to understand the nature of nuclear matter. Sound magnetizing? If yes, then join us on September 13th at 4 PM to really get to know the neutron stars! Any lecture is incomplete without questions, so post them in the live chat to have them answered firsthand by the Professor.
