Most of the photos were taken by my friend photographer Sion Fullana during our time spent in Barcelona and Madrid, or during the LILA recording session in Iceland the past year. They have been affected to give them an animated look, to illustrated how reality becomes distorted through our perception of it as we project our beliefs and expectations on everything and everyone. In our mind, things and people might become better or worse than their real selves but one way or another, they always look somewhat different, seen through our filter and lens. I included a few stills from the shooting of Once taken by David Cleary, to reference the character of GIRL I played in the movie. Many continue to perceive me as GIRL even today, with much affection, granted, but nevertheless confusing a part of me with the whole of me. It has often made me pause to wonder if we ever really see anyone wholly. We fall in love with fantasies, we befriend illusions, we are fascinated by what we can not name and most importantly, we continue to form an idea of who we are based on the reflections of ourselves we catch in the world around us which constantly mirrors our every thought, and our every intention. To truly see and be seen is a thing to aspire to, in my opinion, for our imagination is limited and often blind to the marvels hiding in plain sight. We shall know one another by our heart, not our senses. The real you, and the real me. The heart is where love is. And love does not discriminate. Open your heart and see. Am I not more to you than a girl from that movie? One of these days you'll see me on TV Maybe by then you'll realize what you had in me and you'll be sorry you let me go My bad, I made you out to be a god, Not without fault, but still light years apart from everybody else, Damn, I just can’t make it make any sense, And it hurts to embrace this falling from grace with my eyes open, seeing I’m not the girl you had hoped, I’m not the same as you imagined, I’m not at all who you thought me to be, When you look at me, what do you see? Am I not more to you than a girl from a movie? One of these days you'll see me on TV Maybe by then you'll realize what you had in me and you'll be sorry you let me go I think you know... Here I am, just me with all my imperfections, Showing myself bare to you, Not meeting all your expectations, But better than your expectations, Not that you will ever know… Never have I ever seen a better movie, I just fell in love with all the actors, And I really missed them when the movie was over, So I ended up just watching it over and over, Wishing them to be real people, Imagining myself disappearing, Into their world for a second.
