In his message, It Will Surely Come, Dr. Cleophus LaRue reflects on a passage from the Book of Habakkuk, which offers a word of encouragement for those who have grown impatient waiting on the promises of God. He says, "The dry and difficult seasons when we are forced to wait do not last forever. In their own way, they too are a part of the purposes of God." Dr. Cleophus J. LaRue, Princeton Theological Seminary’s Francis Landey Patton Professor of Homiletics, received his B.A. and M.A. degrees from Baylor University, his M.Div. and Ph.D. degrees from Princeton Seminary. He specializes in the theory and method of African American preaching and worship. An ordained minister in the National Baptist Convention of America, LaRue is the former pastor of two churches in Texas as well as the former interim pastor of churches in Harlem and Jamaica Queens, New York. He is a frequent speaker at churches, seminaries, and conferences throughout the country and is a member of the Academy of Homiletics. This archived 30 Good Minutes program first aired in February 2002.
