There are a few bits of information that I wanted to share with you all that have helped me "level up" in guitar. I am no shredder, and playing fast bits is even more difficult for me since I want to play them perfectly, like well enough to track the part on the record. This means that I have to work pretty hard to get even moderate speed parts down. A while back I had to set up a religious practice routine to cover a song that has had a vast amount of influence on me directly and indirectly (The Count of Tuscany by Dream Theater), and I wanted to make a video about the techniques I, as a mere mortal, had employed to be able to play some of the more challenging bits of that song. This video is about how to, through hours of practice, play fast parts WITH QUALITY. 0:00 Intro 1:01 1 - Isolate the part you're practicing 4:45 2 - Aim to never play it wrong 7:16 3 - Isolate your sound 10:40 4 - Fingering strategy 11:56 5 - Remove context 13:07 6 - Force slowdown 15:17 7 - Add accents 16:39 8 - Look at your right hand 18:38 9 - Have a consistent picking strategy 20:09 10 - Go to sleep My instagram: / bedroom_guitar_hero My band: / @bringtobearband Bandcamp: https://bringtobear.bandcamp.com/ Gear: Pedalboard: Pedaltrain Metro 16 with tour case Floor Sim: Neural DSP Quad Cortex Guitar hardcase: Tourtech Wireless system: Boss WL-50 Guitar: LTD 1989 M1 Candy Apple Red EIMs: XVIVE U4 + Shure SM 215 #metalguitar #guitargear #metalband
