One of the greatest symphonies of all time is Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition". Originally written for piano, it was adapted for orchestra by Maurice Ravel. In 1970, it was further popularized by the progressive rock group, Emerson Lake & Palmer who later recorded a live version with an orchestra in 1977, and a studio version in 1993. I originally put together this remix in 1999 while DJing at WUSB. I recently redid it in protools 11 for better sound quality. I couldn't help but sneak The Nice's version of Jean Sibelius's Intermezzo - "The Kerelia Suite" into this as well. This is a fan-made remix and was not made for profit. 0:00:23 Promenade 0:02:06 The Gnome 0:06:13 Promenade 0:08:22 The Sage 0:12:19 The Old Castle 0:12:50 Blues Variations 0:19:09 Promenade written by Modest Petrovich Mussorgsky Arranged and performed by Emerson, Lake & Palmer live 1970 Taken from "Pictures at an Exhibition" (1972) 00:20:32 The Gnome written by Modest Petrovich Mussorgsky Arranged and performed by Emerson, Lake & Palmer Taken from "In the Hot Seat" (1994) 00:22:34 Promenade 00:23:32 The Old Castle 00:28:14 Promenade 00:28:48 An avenue in the garden of the Tuileries, with a swarm of children and nurses 00:29:45 A Polish cart on enormous wheels, drawn by oxen. 00:32:25 Promenade 00:33:08 Ballet of the Unhatched Chicks 00:34:25 Samuel Goldenberg and Schmuyle (Two Jews: Rich and Poor) 00:36:42 The Market at Limoges (The Great News) 00:38:04 The Catacombs written by Modest Petrovich Mussorgsky arranged by Maurice Ravel Performed by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Taken from "Pictures at an Exhibition" (1980) 00:42:13 Promenade 00:43:40 The Hut on Fowl's Legs (Baba-Yaga) written by Modest Petrovich Mussorgsky Arranged and Performed by Emerson, Lake & Palmer with the London Festival Orchestra 1977 Taken from "Works Live" (1990) 00:44:45 The Curse of Baba-Yaga 00:48:54 The Hut of Baba-Yaga written by Modest Petrovich Mussorgsky Arranged and performed by Emerson, Lake & Palmer live 1970 Taken from "Pictures at an Exhibition" (1972) 00:50:35 Intermezzo - "Karelia Suite" written by Jean Sibelius Arranged and Performed by The Nice with the Sinfonia of London Orchestra 1969 Taken from "Keith Emerson with The Nice" (1972) 00:57:25 The Curse of Baba-Yaga 01:00:33 The Hut of Baba-Yaga 01:01:33The Great Gates of Kiev written by Modest Petrovich Mussorgsky Arranged and Performed by Emerson, Lake & Palmer with the London Festival Orchestra 1977 Taken from "Works Live" (1990) For more prog rock, listen to my radio show Epoch on WUSB Stony Brook. http://www.wusb.fm
