The 73rd Ali Day Celebrations 2026 concludes with scholarly addresses, spiritual tributes, and cultural presentations at the Aligarh Muslim University. The Ali Society of Aligarh Muslim University concluded the 73rd Ali Day Celebrations 2026 with great reverence and enthusiasm, bringing together scholars, dignitaries, students, and guests for an evening of spiritual reflection and intellectual tribute. The annual event dedicated to commemorating the Birth Anniversary of Hazrat Imam Ali (A.S.) on January 31, 2026*, began with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an by Syed Faizan. This was followed by a Na‘at-e-Mohammad presented by Mohammad Zoqain. The Ali Society’s Patron, Dr.. Asghar Ajaz, Chairman, Department of Shia Theology, AMU, formally welcomed the gathering and paid tribute to Hazrat Imam Ali (A.S.), describing him as the only personality born inside the Kaaba and martyred in a mosque. Following this, the Ali Society’s Student Coordinator Shahab Kausar presented the annual report, outlining the society’s activities and achievements. After this, a documentary by the PR team under the direction of Wali Hasan was screened, showcasing the legacy, initiatives, and traditions associated with the Ali Day Celebrations. Next, the Guest Speaker Maulana S. Najeebul Hasan Zaidi, Renowned Islamic Scholar, Masjid-e-Iraniyan (Mughal Masjid), spoke on the enduring relevance of Imam Ali (A.S.) across all times and societies. He emphasized that true humanity is achieved only by following the path of truth, justice, and righteousness. Following this, the Guest Poet Hilal Naqvi, Renowned Poet, Lucknow*, presented a spiritually moving poetic tribute celebrating the greatness of Imam Ali (A.S.) and the values of the Ahl al-Bayt (A.S.). Qayem Hussain Third Prize: Insia Hussain The sessions continued thereafter with the Guest Speaker Dr. Syed Faizan Warsi, Sajjada Nashin, Khanqah Zaidia Warsia, Allahabad, who highlighted the profound spiritual and intellectual contributions of Hazrat Imam Ali (A.S.). He stated that remembering Imam Ali (A.S.) is itself an act of worship and described the Holy Qur’an and the Ahl al-Bayt (A.S.) as the true foundations of guidance. Following this, the Guest Poet Maulana Syed Meraj Zaidi, Renowned Poet, Manglaur, offered an inspiring poetic address and tribute, portraying Imam Ali (A.S.) as a central figure of knowledge, justice, and human guidance. The Guest of Honour, Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha, Srinagar*, delivered a powerful and thought-provoking address highlighting the true legacy of Hazrat Imam Ali (A.S.). He said that there is the Ali (A.S.) created by God, and the Ali (A.S.) shaped by human imagination, and that exaggerated, mythic portrayals often overshadow the real message of Ali (A.S.). He stressed that praising Imam Ali (A.S.) in poetry and gatherings has little value if one hesitates to speak or act against injustice. True devotion, he noted, lies in standing firmly against oppression through one’s words and actions. Prof. Mohammad Mohsin Khan, Pro-Vice Chancellor, AMU, then addressed the gathering and reflected on the personality, knowledge, courage, and justice of Hazrat Imam Ali (A.S.). The Chief Guest, H.E. Dr. Abdul Majeed Hakeem Elahi, Representative of the Hon’ble Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran in India*, delivered the keynote address and described Aligarh Muslim University as a historic centre of knowledge and ethical learning, noting that Ali Day is not merely a remembrance of a historical figure but an engagement with the living moral legacy of Hazrat Imam Ali (A.S.). He emphasized that a true university nurtures responsible reason and character, not just information. Presenting Imam Ali (A.S.) as a universal personality beyond sectarian boundaries, he identified reason, justice, responsibility, and human dignity as the core of his teachings. Presiding over the function, the Vice-Chancellor of AMU, Prof. Naima Khatoon highlighted the life, knowledge, courage, justice, and spiritual contributions of Hazrat Imam Ali (A.S.). She encouraged students and participants to model their lives on his teachings and to strive for excellence in learning, character, and moral responsibility. Ali Society’s President Prof. Mazhar Abbas, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, JNMC, AMU, who expressed sincere gratitude to all guests, participants, organizers, and volunteers for their dedicated efforts in making the event a grand success.
