(Re-upped a day later in 4K.) Ask anyone about switching to solar energy and there's a good chance you'll either hear about how awesome it is, or how it's really not worth it. The truth? It's somewhere in-between, and very much dependent on your circumstances — where you live, how much sun your home gets, and how much electricity you use on a daily basis. So is solar worth it? Maybe. My family went (mostly) solar this year. It was a learning process. Still is, really. But has it been worth it? Here's my take on our experience. Yours will vary. But even if it's not 100 percent doable for everyone, this much is clear to me — renewables are still the future of energy production. ===== THE DEETS ===== We've got a 10.8-kWhr system, with 36 300-watt Trina panels. No battery storage yet, so this is very much a break-even endeavor.
