The Fourth Of July is just a week away, which means backyard barbecues elaborate fireworks displays, and, of course, Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest. A tradition as American as apple pie—hey, there’s an eating contest for that too!—this year’s competition will see last year’s record-breaking champions Joey Chestnut and Miki Sudo attempt to defend their crowns. In honor of the contest, we invited ex-competitive eater and human garbage disposal Patrick “Deep Dish” Bertoletti to show us the best way to slam a bunch of hot dogs.
