LITE: • GMM's Alternate Windows Timeline - LITE In a different universe, what if Microsoft used a different roadmap than the one currently used in the original today? This video is all about that. Below are all of the versions that will be featured in the timeline (it will also be shown at the beginning of the video), including not just alpha-betas but for the first time ever, OEMs (although not most of them converted to ATL from the wild). In addition, there will be future versions after the past where Microsoft continues to support Windows until the year 2127, where Microsoft rebrands to a new name (NOTE: THIS IS NOT THE ORIGINAL WINDOWS TIMELINE, PLEASE DO NOT CONSIDER THIS TO BE A ORIGINAL FUTURE WINDOWS BEYOND PROJECT). Non-Windows family [both Unix and DOS]: *1977-1999 Microsoft BASIC: 1979-1981 Microsoft DOS (MS-DOS), previously PC-DOS): 1981-1999 Microsoft XENIX: 1977-1981 XENIX Manager (an Interface Manager predecessor, a first of a one of a kind windowed shell on top as non-graphical): 1982-1984 Windows family [main] (previously Microsoft Interface Manager, Microsoft GUI [MS-GUI]): *1983-present Desktops: Windows (client for home users): 1983-2000 (DOS-based), *2000-present (NT-based) Windows IoT (for embedded systems, previously Modular Windows [Tandy VIS], Windows Embedded): 1997-1999 (DOS-based), 1999-present (NT-based) Windows Legacy Client (for low-spec PCs, discontinued due to technological advancements on hardware): 2003-2012 Windows Legacy Embedded (for low-spec embedded systems, a Windows 10-based version is speculated to be made, but then canceled): 2005-2009 Windows NT (for business users): 1991-2001 (Windows 2000 is considered to be NT 5.0) Windows for Pen Computing (tablet versions of Windows 4.1 and 5.0, replaced with Pen Services): 1992-1994 Windows RT (for ARM32 devices, Windows 12 only, discontinued): 2012-2013 Windows Server (previously Windows NT Server, Windows Server Family (only 2000 uses this), Windows .NET Server): *1994-present Windows Home Server (for home servers, discontinued and moved its services to Windows Server 2012 Essentials): 2007-2011 Windows UMPC (for Ultra-mobile PCs, discontinued due to sales declined): 2007-2009 Windows/UX (Unix port of Windows, previously W/UX, discontinued due to sales declined): 1992-2000 WinFrame [Citrix] (multi-client NT server, later adapted into Windows NT 3.1 Terminal Server, although didn't discontinue until 2002): 1994-1999 Azure Stack HCI (for integrating infrastructure thru the Microsoft Azure cloud service, based on Windows Server): *2020-present Handheld Windows (OTL WinPad, for touch devices, discontinued due to various hardware issues): 1993-1994 SurfaceOS (a Windows-powered OS exclusively used on Microsoft Surface/PixelSense table hardware, not to be confused with its Tablet PC brand): 2007-2011 Portables: AndromedaOS (previously PocketPC, Windows Mobile, Windows Phone): 1999-present Windows CE (version for Handheld PCs, discontinued due to sales declined, replaces with PocketPC): 1997-2000 Windows Tablet (tablet version of Windows Phone, merged with Windows Mobile to create AndromedaOS in 2014): 2009-2014 In addition, most versions are kept away from original Windows sounds as much as possible. Pre-2001/2002 versions and post-2022 versions were created and designed by me, with some used from various sources. Used both Logic Pro and Reason DAWs to create sounds intended for these aforementioned versions, with on the Reason side, used a Korg M1 VST that I got from a Discord server (thanks to magicnicko_8180 for providing!). Other sounds that are not created are credited from Microsoft, Progressbar95, fusoxide, Sectorwire, HP, etc. PACK: https://www.deviantart.com/gmm2003/ar...
