Hey everyone! Welcome back to the channel! I just finished The Diviners by Libba Bray, and WOW, what a read! This book totally sucked me in from start to finish. If you're a fan of spooky, paranormal YA books with a dash of historical intrigue, this one's for you. In this video, I review the first book in The Diviners series, which takes place in 1920s New York City, filled with flapper girls, jazz, and a creepy murder mystery. We follow Evie O'Neill, a mean girl with a quirky supernatural gift, who gets shipped off to New York after a party trick goes wrong. She’s joined by a diverse cast of characters, each with their own divine abilities, and together they try to solve a series of mysterious murders tied to dark forces. I talk about the characters I adored, like Memphis Campbell (my absolute fave), Theta, and Henry, and the eerie and thrilling murder investigation that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Bray does a fantastic job of blending spooky elements with 1920s New York aesthetics, bringing the era to life with perfect period details and just the right amount of historical accuracy.
