Planting a Monstera Outside in Phoenix, AZ!

Commonly used as a house plant around the world, the Monstera is a climbing vine that is native to the rainforest in Central America. This beautiful plant, with its large recognizable leaves actually produces a delicious fruit that taste like pineapple, banana and coconut. It looks like a large, green pinecone. You have to make sure to get the correct variety though, which is the Monstera Deliciosa. Since this is a unknown variety we will probably not eat any fruit it produces. Here in Phoenix, we can grow Monstera outside in protected environments. They require afternoon shade and cold protection while getting established. Many successful Monsteras are grown near houses where they can get a more protected microclimate. In this video I go through how to separate and plant a Monstera here in Phoenix.
