Bringing a taste of Zanzibar street food to your kitchen table. This is not your typical Italian pizza. The authentic and popular Zanzibar pizza is incredibly delicious and offers an eclectic mix of ingredients that bursts in your mouth ! Ingredients Dough: 2 Cups - All purpose flour 11/2 Cups - Water ( Add more if needed, add a little at a time ) Minced Meat prep ingredients : 1/2 lb - Ground Beef Salt - Taste 1/2 Cup - Shredded Carrots 🥕 1 tbsp - Garlic 🧄 1tbsp - Ginger Fillings : 1 Large - Carrots 🥕 1 Midium - Red Onion 🧅 1 Large - Green Pepper 🫑 1 - Tomato ( Finely Chopped ) 🍅 1- Scotch Bonnet (Optional) 1/2 lb - Ground Beef Cream Cheese cube 🧀 1 tsp - Mayonnaise 1 - Egg 🥚 (Use ghee or oil of your choice when pan frying the pizza ) Preparation: Ground Beef prep : 1) in a large pan or pot over medium heat, add in the ground beef. Use a spatular to break apart the meat and cook for 5 min. Add salt, garlic, ginger and shredded carrots. Let the beef cook until tender and brown in colour for about 5- 6 min. 2) Remove the meat filling from the heat and let it cool. Fillings -veggies prep: 3) Combine and cut the following vegetables very Finley : carrots, green pepper and red onion. 4) Finely chop tomatoes and scotch bonnet pepper and leave it on the side. Dough prep: 5) Add the following to a bowl, all purpose flour followed by water. Dispense the water a little bit at a time to get a soft dough. Add enough water to bring the the dough into a ball. 6) Once the dough is nice and soft, pull off a small piece. lightly oil your counter top with ghee, and start stretching the dough into a large disk. Repeat the same process and create a small disk. 7) Pre cook the small disk on a frying pan for 4 min. Cook 2 min each side 8) On your countertop place the small pre cooked disk at the centre of the large disk, then start adding your toppings. 9) Add in the ground beef, carrots, green pepper, onions, tomatoes, scotch bonnet pepper, mayonnaise, cream cheese and one egg. ( these are the main fillings for Zanzibar pizza) then add in any other toppings of your choice. 10) Once done, pull inwards the four side of the dough leaving a small space in the middle 11) Put the uncooked pizza into a lightly oiled pan (use ghee for oil) and cook each side for approximately 5 - 7 minutes. 12) The pizza is now ready to eat. You can serve it with your favourite sauce.
