A short video documentary of the towns along the North Santiam River, Oregon, including Mehama, Freres Lumber Mill in Lyons, Mill City, the Big Cliff Dam, the Detroit Dam, Detroit, and Idanha. As this area of Oregon slowly transitions from a logging economy to a more tourism-based economy, there is evidence of both the fading past and the coming future growth of the area. While there are a number of derelict and vacant structures, there is still a flourishing business in timber, as shown in the Freres Mill footage, and signs of confidence exhibited by the volunteers converting the old Mehama School into a Community Center, new City Hall and FIre Department buildings in Mill City, along with very active state parks, fishing areas, and the Detroit Marina on the Detroit Reservoir.
