After visiting the church dedicated to Santes Melangell, I knew that I had to create something special for her. This is an hour-long medley of new and old pieces of my music, that I feel represents this kind-hearted woman's nature and story. Santes Melangell, an Irish princess, fled to Wales to escape an arranged marriage, seeking a life of solitude and devotion. According to legend, she became the protector of a hare pursued by Prince Brochfael of Powys during a hunt. When the hare sought refuge under her cloak, the prince’s hunting dogs miraculously stopped in their tracks, unable to harm it. Moved by her holiness, the prince granted Melangell land, where she founded a sanctuary that later became St. Melangell’s Church in Powys, Wales. Over time, she became revered as the patron saint of hares and small creatures, embodying compassion and protection. Pilgrims continue to visit her shrine, believing in its healing powers.
