Lyons said ICE took care of the Ramos because his father “abandoned” him. Ramos — whose image has become a symbol of ICE resistance — was detained by ICE on January 20 as he was returning from school in Minneapolis. US District Judge Fred Biery ordered on Jan 31 that Liam and his father, who was also detained, be freed. Ramos and his family are originally from Ecuador and presented themselves to border officers in Texas in December 2024 to apply for asylum.
