Mini JCW GP3 First Drive - A Powerful Disappointment Hello guys, and welcome back to Car Obsession. The new Mini JCW GP3 is a car that I've been quite intrigued by because A) I love hot hatches and B) I've heard a few mixed things about this little pocket rocket. Mini's decision to shun a manual gearbox in favour for an 8-speed automatic seemed a bit controversial, but did it pay off? I had a quick drive in one to find out. Mated to that 8-speed auto is a 2.0 litre, turbocharged four cylinder petrol engine which is able to churn out 306hp along with 450Nm of torque. That means that this Mini is able to hit 62mph in just 5.2 seconds, and the top speed is 164mph! However, a hot hatch needs more than just brute strength to shine, especially when its up against cars such as the GR Yaris and the Civic Type R, so how does it fare?
