We had to try this afternoon extravaganza for ourselves, and see what High Tea was like at the quintessential colonial hotel, The Grand, Nuwara Eliya. The Grand Hotel is almost 200 years old, and it was built as the private residence of Sir Edward Barnes, the 5th governor of Ceylon (the former British name for Sri Lanka). After 68 years as a private residence, it was converted into the luxury hotel you can see today! The Grand Hotel has so much to offer, and we thoroughly enjoyed the high tea and the beautiful gardens.
