The Probe Words Assessment is a criterion-based method used to assess a client’s motor speech control and can be used by SLPs in a variety of settings, including schools, clinics, hospitals, universities and private practices. It can be used to assess speech motor skills, aid in differential diagnosis and provide a measure of change over time regardless of treatment method. It also helps the clinician to identify three priorities for treatment, determine if those priorities are appropriate and evaluate if treatment is producing the desired result.
