Can you imagine having to walk 25km just to get water for drinking and washing? In western countries, we take for granted our access to water and the plumbing we are all used to, but in a small Maasai village in Kenya, they are not nearly as fortunate. Dorcas Mutero, a Maasai woman, shares stories about her treacherous daily journey for water, how she was fortunate enough to find help, and how that help allowed her to pursue her dreams and finish her education. Dorcas Mutero is the daughter of Lemalon and Ann Kelleken family, Kenya. She started primary education in Namelok, Kajiado County, Kenya and completed her primary school, close to where her parents live. In 1999 she married Mutero and is blessed with 5 children – 4 daughters and 1 boy. Dorcas is a pre-school teacher and a farmer. She is a beneficiary of Water is Life Kenya at the Imisigiyio community deep water well and is the secretary of Inkiramat oo Imirisigyio Women Livestock Keepers group. She wants to encourage young people to use their time well to learn when they are in school. If they misuse their time they cannot get a second chance. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
