This is Police Scotland Federation Pipe Band playing in the Grade One Competition at the European Pipe Band Championships in Inverness on 25 June 2022.. Although sunny and dry, all bands had to contend with the high blustery wind, and I think Glasgow Pol. & Fed. got the worst of it in the Grade One arens. The band's medley comprised the following tunes: Angus Sutherland Hornpipe The Rakes of Kildare To the Forth Lorna McKie's Farewell to Kingarth Street Craig a Bodich Blackey of Hillsdale Finder Saunders The Brolum Rory Johnson All bands play as they approach the competition arena but most stop some distance away. This band played almost to 'the line' so I though it would be nice to include it here. Police Scotland and Federation Pipe Band is a Grade 1 band representing Police Scotland and the Scottish Police Federation. It was previously Glasgow Police Pipe Band. The band wears the Scottish Police Federation tartan. This was created in 2018 to mark the Federation’s centenary. Glasgow's first police force was formed in 1779 some 50 years earlier than the more famous foundation by Sir Robert Peel in London. The tartan includes the colours from all the eight forces in Scotland in 1779.
