This was very fun and exhilarating. I panned color early on in the Limerick Basin drilling program. I could not just stand by and lose the opportunity to get a better picture of this native gold occurrence in the ground we were drilling so I reverted to an ancient form of gravity gold recovery, a ground sluice. Sometimes the drilling goes as fast as 5 feet every 4 minutes, too quick to keep up with. The idea evolved into a drill-cuttings sluice and an auto-panner for the inexperienced geologist, for use in known coarse gold ground. IMO, without panning efforts on the drill rig cuttings, any exploration company may under-value an area because Coarse Gold does not always show up in assays well. Nevada geologists often overlook panning drill cuttings as a tool in finding gold, Nevada-Carlin-type gold is "no see 'em" gold, too small to pan and it is hard work. But when in Rome (coarse gold country) somebody better be panning IMO!
