So Army of the Dead, paired with Vanhel's Danse Macabre and Spirit Leech, offers the most benefits and utility for Necromancer in the base game imo. It feeds into a hyper aggressive and proactive playstyle of using your skeletons as much as possible to get more skeletons to make use of. It’s peak game design, and it feels similar to Ranger Veteran and focusing specials but with elites instead. Unlike the Barrow Blades or Dread Seneschal, Army of the Dead makes use of Necromancer’s base skeletons, which offer less themselves, but provide lots of utility to you personally; they’re great for soaking damage, drawing aggro, and are 110% expendable to use for venting overcharge for an entire 20 seconds. They’re a fantastic burst option in a pinch, and you don’t have to worry about managing them nearly as much as you do the other skeletons. If you like using Vanhel's Danse Macabre and Spirit Leech, you’ll love Army of the Dead. These talents feel like they’re made for each other (they probably are, I can’t recommend Army of the Dead with anything else). This puts a lot more pressure on your individual performance, but you obviously have a lot more space to pull off plays with 12 skeletons as opposed to 6. On a side note, I’m low-key vibing with Withering Touch. The damage potential is insane and a lot more consistent than Cursed Blood. It was definitely worth it to try something new. Double boss damage
