In this video, we demonstrate Experiment 2 of the Pneumatic Trainer Kit: Design and build a pneumatic system to perform a separation operation using a Double Acting Cylinder. This experiment focuses on building a basic pneumatic automation circuit where compressed air is used to control the motion of a double acting cylinder to separate objects in a system. Such pneumatic mechanisms are widely used in automated production lines for sorting, pushing, and separating components. The session begins with an explanation of the pneumatic components used in the setup, including the air supply unit, FRL unit (Filter, Regulator, Lubricator), directional control valve, pneumatic tubing, and the double acting cylinder. The trainer explains how compressed air flows through the circuit and how the directional control valve controls the extension and retraction of the cylinder. After understanding the components, the pneumatic circuit is assembled on the trainer kit step by step. The operation of the double acting cylinder is demonstrated, showing how the piston extends and retracts to perform the separation task. The working principle behind controlling actuator motion using directional control valves is also explained clearly. This experiment helps students understand how pneumatic circuits are designed for real industrial applications such as automated sorting systems, material handling units, packaging lines, and assembly automation.
