The Tibetan spiritual leader's visit reaffirms the significant spiritual bond between the Dalai Lama and the Panchen Lama. Tashi Lhunpo Monastery was founded by the First Dalai Lama, Gendun Drup and offered to fourth Panchen Lama Lobsang Chokyi Gyaltsen by the fifth Dalai Lama. We recently sat down with Kachen Lobsang Tsultrim to discuss the monastery’s history, its connection to the Dalai Lamas, its role as a seat of learning in the Tsang region, and more.
