Subscribe to our telegram channel: https://t.me/NewWarGear The K806, a newly developed armored personnel carrier from South Korea, was designed by Hyundai Rotem to fulfill the requirements of the South Korean army. Its development commenced in 2012, featuring a 6x6 configuration and initially known as the KW1 Scorpion. Developed alongside the larger K808 with an 8x8 configuration, both vehicles share many automotive components as part of the same project. In 2016, after successful final qualification tests, both the K806 and K808 were approved for procurement. The first batch of several pre-production units was slated for delivery to the South Korean army in 2017, with full-scale production commencing in 2018. These wheeled armored vehicles are intended to replace the aging K200 series of tracked armored personnel carriers and possibly the KM900 series wheeled armored personnel carriers in the South Korean army. By 2020, the South Korean army plans to deploy 600 of these new wheeled armored vehicles, including 100 with a 6x6 configuration and 500 with an 8x8 configuration, with potential export offerings for the K806 and K808.
