Minnesota DOC's Agent of the Year 2013

The 2013 Minnesota Department of Corrections Agent of the Year is Jennifer McMahon. A 16 year veteran of Field Services in the Red Wing District, Jenny has been providing enhanced sex offender supervision since 2007. Described as a mentor, social worker, advocate, educator and problem solver, Jenny's work clearly demonstrates a commitment to the Department of Corrections vision and values. During the course of her career, Jenny has been a cognitive skills facilitator, served on the DOC Legislative Initiatives committee, participated on the Goodhue County Domestic Violence Council and assisted in the DOC Sanctions Conference policy development. She also assisted in the development and implementation of the Wabasha County Drug Court Program. Jenny is an active member of the Minnesota Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers (MnATSA) and has most recently been a member of the conference planning committee. She is a member of the MN Sex Offender Re-Entry Project, where she collaborates and networks with other professionals in order to better identify resources for the offenders with whom she works. Jenny also serves as a trainer for DOC Basic Sex Offender Supervision, presenting on the topics of supervising adult sex offenders and the sex offender treatment agent/therapist co-facilitation model. Jenny is considered a leader in the field of sex offender supervision and management. In 2012, she developed and implemented the Goodhue County Sex Offender Task Force in response to public and local criminal justice partners' concerns surrounding sex offender supervision and related issues. This group meets quarterly to ensure all partners have complete and appropriate information. Jenny is also involved in the Goodhue County SMART Team to address county policies and procedures to report sexual assault and identify roles and responsibilities. Jenny volunteers her services at the Southeast Minnesota Technical College's Criminal Justice Program where she lectures second-year Criminal Justice majors on the topic of sex offender supervision and treatment.
